About this Item: Self-Published, London, 1841. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. 2 volumes bound as 1 in 1/2 green moroccan leather and cloth with gilt raised band spine; marbled EPs. Scarce 1st edition (HOWES C241) , close to period later binding, circa 1850's-1860's style. Collated with all 400 plates and maps present; first edition errata printed from "The Author" tipped in on frontis verso. Tiny chip at top front spine head (about 1/8", not very noticable) ; light rub to joints, spine tips & corners. 3 tears expertly repaired on plates 150/151, 158 & pg 246; occasional foxing and margin dampstain in some areas (dampstain doesn't effect images or text, except a bit on frontispiece). Tight, sound & square with otherwise clean contents. Overall nice and bright exterior. Engravings; Thick 8vo: 8" to 9" tall; 264 + 266 pages.
