MANUEL RAMOS ARTAL (Madrid, 1855 - 1900).

Signed and dated in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 20 x 35 cm; 30 x 45 cm (frame).
Madrid painter specialized in the landscape, Ramos Artal made his studies in the Special School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving of San Fernando, in Madrid, where he was a disciple of Carlos de Haes. Later he extended his studies through trips to Italy, France, Portugal, Holland and Belgium. From 1876 he assiduously sent his works to contests and exhibitions of various kinds, being awarded a third medal in the National Fine Arts of 1884, and a certificate of third medal in the 1887 edition. Previously, he had been distinguished in 1880 with the Medal of the Regional Exhibition of Pontevedra, and with the medal of merit in the exhibition organized in Madrid by the Association of Writers and Artists of the same year. He also participated in the exhibitions organized in the Herráiz Salon and by the newspapers "El Globo" and "El Porvenir". Manuel Ramos Artal is currently represented in the Prado Museum, the University and Museum of Zaragoza, the Government Delegation of Logroño and the Museum of La Rioja, among others.
