Manuela Ghezzi is an Austrian artist, born in Salzburg in 1955. She is particularly known for her meticulously crafted drawings and graphic works, which occupy a distinctive place within contemporary Austrian art. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she attended the master class for graphic arts, Ghezzi developed a unique visual language that combines elements of figuration with hints of fantasy and surrealism. Her series of works, often conceived as cycles, demonstrate precise penmanship and the sensitive hand of an artist also trained in goldsmithing. In delicate pen drawings and watercolors, she populates her imaginary spaces with mythical creatures and hybrid figures, where dream and reality, the subtle and the grotesque, converge. With her poetic and technically masterful works, Manuela Ghezzi is one of those artists who have shaped the tension between the intimacy of drawing and narrative imagination within Austrian art since the 1980s.
