Original manuscript in a very good half maroquin binding, with only small wear at corners; in-4°; title page in red and 142 hand written pages with many corrections; inside excellent; the work was started by Bennett in his Essex house "Comarques" 1913 and finished 1914; published in 1923 it was never played but later transformed in a libretto for Eugene Goossens, and created 1959 at Covent Garden; provenance: Marguerite Soulié whom Bennett had married 1907 while he was in France.
