The shaft broken and with a 19th century repair
Condition Report:
An old repaired break in the shaft of the club: either side of the shaft notched and glued and nailed back together, with a fiber binding (now slightly loose) covering the join. This repair is visible in the 19th century watercolor of the object in the Pitt-Rivers manuscript catalogue (image available on request). Otherwise in good condition overall with some minor nicks, chips, scratches, and abrasions. Scattered hairline cracks in places. A few small knots in the wood.
