. _____ Single sheet, 19 x 24", printed on one side._____ Folded and mounted into 5 x 3.5" cloth covers with gilt titling. _____ Mounted to the inside front cover is a sheet 4.75 x 9.25, printed on both sides and folded to three panels._____ The front of this sheet is George Rockwell's explanation of the evolution of this map's production._____ He notes that this is the third edition and dates the concluding credit as August, 1880. _____ The two accessible panels of the back of the sheet are a tabular "Index to Cottages / For Summer Residence Only." This includes location, owner and owner's home town. _____ The map is basically black & white with a few land areas, perhaps parks, are printed in pale green. _____ It is centered on Grindstone Island and Wells or Wellesley Island._____ . _____ "I do not of course offer this as an accurate chart for the dependence of navigators, nor does it pretend to embrace the entire region of the Thousand Islands._____But as it shows with general correctness the central portion and most of the smaller Islands generally visited from Alexandria Bay, Clayton and the Thousand Island and Westminster Parks._____I trust that its more portable size and form, as well as cheapness, as compared with the Navigator's charts, will make it useful to travelers and tourists.". _____ There are proper names scattered throughout, we assume these are the private summer residences. _____ The map includes a table of 12 American summer hotels, with proprietors and locations given. _____ The folds of the map have archival reinforcements on the blank rear._____
