Additional Information: Compiled from the latest Authorities. Mitchell's First Year Pocket Map of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan Territory with Chicago and Ft. Dearborn. Pocket map folding within rose sheepskin covers. Vandalia is capital of Illinois. Ft. Dearborn located just south of river and 'Proposed Canal' to Chicago. Others proposed in Ohio and Indiana. Existing canals from Cleveland to Portsmouth Ohio on the Ohio River and Dayton to Cincinnati. 'Pottowatomies' have large area at southend of Lake Michigan in Indiana. Larger, unnamed area in Illinois adjoining this. Sauks and Foxes named on area above the Illinois River and Chicago to the Northwest Territory, where some counties are forming in what is Winnebago Indian country (one of which is Sioux County!) Sioux and Iaways are west of the Mississippi River in Missouri Territory. Important transformational period when one can still observe the Indian nations that were being repiadly overrun and replaced. Still in original leather-covered booklet with gilt stamped "Ohio, Indiana, Illinois & Michigan". Important map, which, due to its few darkened areas and splits requiring archival tape is price at less than one-third the normal price. Damped, fold browning, couple small holes, trimmed to neat lines.
