Marc Chagall etching on Montval paper [Meeting of Jacob and Rachel]. 1931-39, S.213. Signed on the plate, lower right. One of 105 etchings comprising Chagall's 'Bible', commissioned by Ambroise Vollard. Sixty-six etchings were printed by Maurice Potin from 1931-39 and thirty-nine were printed by Raymond Haasen from 1952-56. From the edition of 275 (20 hors commerce numbered I-XX and an edition of 100 with hand-coloring on Arches paper, initialed by the artist and numbered also exist). Published by Teriade in 1956. Measures 9.5 in. x 11.75 in. image size and 33 in. x 30 in. framed. Appears to be in EX/EX+ condition, not inspected out of framing. Includes Certificate of Authenticity and appraisal from Park West Gallery. If lot is absent of a condition report a condition report may be requested via email.
