14th Wedding Anniversary Card from Marc Davis to Alice Davis Original Art Gouache and Ink on Board (Walt Disney, 1970). On their 14th anniversary, Marc Davis, a linchpin of Walt Disney Animation and one of the revered "Walt's Nine Old Men," presented his wife, Alice Davis, with a humorous and affectionate illustration. Alice was a renowned Hollywood costume designer, known for her Disneyland Audio-Animatronic costumes. Both Marc and Alice have their own windows on Main Street in Disneyland – an honor bestowed to only a very few who helped create the magic. This unique piece, crafted with ink and gouache on an 11.5" x 11.5" board, humorously captures a moment of Marc arriving home, flowers in hand and with "amorous eyes," only to have their dog Penelope comically clinging to his pant leg. Dated June 22, 1970, and affectionately signed "For Alice with Luff, Marc," this illustration not only showcases Marc's artistic prowess and keen sense of humor but also serves as a testament to the deep and playful bond he shared with Alice, his partner in both life and their legendary Disney contributions. Walt Disney once said, "Marc can do story, he can do character, he can animate, he can design shows for me. All I have to do is tell him what I want and it's there! He's my Renaissance man." The piece, framed to 16.5" x 16", once hung in the Davis house, standing as a cherished emblem of their love and shared history in the enchanting realm of Disney. The illustration is in Very Good condition. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. From the Disney Legend Inductees Marc and Alice Davis Archive.
