Marc Davis "It's a Small World" Concept Drawing Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1963-64). Presented is a set of three early original concept drawings by Disney Legend Marc Davis for the original "It's a Small World" attraction at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. Initially created for the Pepsi-Cola/UNICEF Pavilion before it became the beloved mainstay attraction at Disneyland, "It's a Small World" was the the product of the collaborative efforts of Marc Davis, Mary Blair, Alice Davis, and Rolly Crump with the iconic song composed by the Sherman Brothers. On creating the attraction, Marc Davis said, "I designed the 'animation', what the characters did, and so on throughout. Mary Blair designed the décor, and my wife, Alice, designed the costumes. Rolly Crump did all the toys. So, it was a group effort." Working closely with his friend and colleague Mary Blair on the overall design, Marc Davis depicts fantastical landscapes featuring famous world landmarks: The Leaning Tower of Pisa, The Eiffel Tower, and the windmills of the Netherlands. Key elements of the attraction! The drawings are rendered in graphite and color pencil on sheets of 17" x 11" sketch paper, and each bear Marc Davis' hand-written initials.
