Marc Davis' Walt Disney Studios Mousecar Award (Walt Disney, c. 1947 - 1973). This Disney Studio Mousecar Award, presented to the legendary animator and attraction designer, Marc Davis, marks one of two such honors he received during his illustrious 43-year career with Disney. Initiated in 1947, the prestigious Mousecar was Disney's own version of the OSCAR®, an in-house trophy awarded in recognition of exceptional service to the company and community. Far rarer than the Donald Duck-themed Duckster, this second-generation Mousecar features a likeness of Mickey Mouse atop a wooden base, distinguishing it from the first generation's Bakelite bases. Standing approximately 9" tall, with Mickey himself measuring about 6" atop a 3" base, this award symbolizes Davis's significant contributions. As one of "Walt's Nine Old Men," Davis was instrumental in the creation of Disneyland's most iconic attractions. Named a Disney Legend in 1989, his legacy is also honored with a window on Main Street, USA, in Disneyland, alongside his wife Alice, a renowned costume designer. Marc's window reads: "Far East Imports – Exotic Art – Marc Davis – Proprietor". This Mousecar, in Very Good condition, is not just a rare collectible but a testament to Marc Davis's enduring impact on the magic of Disney. A fantastic acquisition for any discerning collector. From the Disney Legend Inductees Marc and Alice Davis Archive. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
