Walt Disney World – Two "Jungle Cruise" Progress Binders Belonging to Marc Davis (Walt Disney, 1968-70). This outstanding lot features two enormous binders full of show documentational concept prints and photos used in the development of the Jungle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World! This pair of 12'' x 12'' x 3'' binders include over 100 copies of original art created by Disney Legend, artist, animator, and Walt Disney Imagineer Marc Davis (1913 – 2000). Many of these documents were prepared between 1968 and 1970, when Davis was called upon to restage scenes from the original Jungle Cruise for installation of the Walt Disney World attraction which opened in 1971. Highlights include color and black and white concept copies for tableaux of Schweitzer Falls, Giant Frogs, the headhunting tribe, Shir Lee Temple, the escaped toucans, and the unrealized Man-Eating Plant. Further, trimmed pieces of script, a few small show documentation photos of scale model huts, and three pages on soundtracks round out the materials. This collection presents a beautiful archive of Davis's contributions to the final show and an in-depth view into the making of the incredibly popular and "world famous Jungle Cruise"! Both binders are labeled with the attraction name on the cover and spine, and one spine including Marc Davis's name. The binders and materials are in Good to Very Good condition, exhibiting minor wear, light debris retention and age-related toning, faint scuffing, and a few unattached pages. From the Disney Legend Inductees Marc and Alice Davis Archive. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
