Im vorliegenden Werk beschreibt er sorgfältig die Techniken zum Schleifen und Polieren von Glas und zur Herstellung aller Arten von Teleskopen, Mikroskopen und Wunderlampen. - Titelbl. angefalzt und mit kl. Randläsuren. Teils etwas wasserrandig. Insgesamt wohlerhaltenes Exemplar des seltenen Werks.

Cont. leather with rich gilt dec. on spine, red edges and marbled endpapers (slightly rubbed, spotted and bumped, front cover with contemporary manuscript annotation and small wormhole). - First and only edition. - The plates with depictions of optical instruments. The opticus and spectacle dealer Marc Thomin (1707-1752) produced all kinds of optical objects (spectacles, telescopes, mirrors, microscopes, magic lanterns etc.). In the present work he carefully describes the techniques for cutting and polishing glass and for making all kinds of telescopes, microscopes and magic lamps. - Title page hinged and with small marginal defects. Partly somewhat waterstained. Overall a well-preserved copy of this rare work.
