Marcasite Linwood Mine, Buffalo, Scott County, Iowa, USA 11.1 × 2.6 × 1.2 cm (4.37 × 1.02 × 0.47 in) This unusual Marcasite stalactite measures an impressive 11.1 centimeters in length while weighing just 25 grams, creating a remarkably slender and sculptural form. The stalactite is completely coated in densely intergrown Marcasite crystals that display a bright metallic, brassy luster along its entire length. Several of the crystals exhibit distinct twinning, adding complexity and texture to the glittering surface.
