Marcel Breuer - Gavina - Dinner chair - Cesca

[ translate ]

Cesca chair, produced by the prestigious Gavina company of San Lazzaro di Savena (Italy) during the late 1960s. In 1968 Dino Gavina convinced Marcel Breuer in New York to put into production his projects, including the 'Cesca' chair, designed by Breuer in 1928. The commercial success of this chair was such that the market was invaded by many more or less questionable reproductions. The company Gavina, whose president was one of the most famous Italian designers, Carlo Scarpa, was later purchased by Knoll, which continues the production of many Breuer designs to this day. The chair on auction has been completely restored. The Vienna straw has been replaced so that it can be used as new. Restored and lacquered wooden frames. The chromed tubular structure has been polished (there are small signs of oxidation in some places) . The chromed tubes of this model have closed ends (behind the backrest) which is how the fine models were made, unlike the low quality copies which were simply capped with chromed covers. 'Design Radicale' offers insured shipping to Italy and Europe. Shipping costs as indicated.
