Letter from Marcel Gromaire: He congratulates his correspondent for the distinction he obtained for Verdun. He talks about the exhibitions he is going to do, and about his painting.

"I thank you for your kind letter and congratulate you on the distinction you obtained for Verdun. All that is far away, full of bitter memories, but we must rejoice to see that those who went through this hell are not not forgotten. Here it goes Important exhibition in Lilles, to follow Amiens - Exhibition in London. I struggle as always to try to preserve the dignity of painting [. . .] It's like screaming in a desert. [. . .] ] "
