Marco Liberi (1644–1691), entourage de - Portraits de la Vierge et de Saint-Joseph

[ translate ]

Authentic masterpieces of 17th century Italian art, from the Venice school

Two portraits by Marco Liberi's entourage of the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph, in exceptional frames with French gilding.

They were the subject of an expertise by the Turquin firm, which refers to Paris and France.

These two portraits from the Venetian school are classic in their execution.

They show a Virgin with partially hidden hair, downcast eyes, and a luminous forehead. Saint Joseph, his head resting on his hand, displays the same attitude of humility and simplicity.

At the bottom of the frames, Baroccio cartridges.

On the back, very old labels.
Behind the painting of Saint-Joseph, an old French printing label.
"St-Joseph: Baroccio (Fiori Federico)
7. Study head intended for the famous Vatican painting, Rest in Egypt for the character of Saint-Joseph"

On the back of the painting of the Virgin Mary, handwriting of a French nobleman who offered these paintings as gifts in the 19th century to a marquise. "Cordial tribute to my excellent neighbor Madame la Marquise du Bourget (?) . March 12, 1866. Viscount of Spain" (d'Espagnet?)

These two portraits are paper mounted on canvas, and have been placed in an oval.
Dimensions of the Virgin paper: 31. 2 x 28 cm
Oval dimensions: 47. 5 x 38 cm
Total dimension for each portrait: 69 cm high, 55 cm wide, 13 centimeters deep, for the head sculpture.

Traces of old restorations.
Superb gilded frames, in the French taste, decorated with roses, garlands, and sculpted nets.

Expertise by Turquin in Paris, ref. 20,396

The paintings may be sent separately for reasons of bulk and security, or sent by carrier.
