Maria Safronova was born in 1979 in the
city of Rzhev, Tver region. In 2003 she
graduated from the Surikov Moscow
State Academic Art Institute, in 2011 - the
Institute of Contemporary Art and the
School of Contemporary Art «Free
Workshops». She became the scholar of
the Ministry of Culture of the Russian
Federation in 2003.

Included in the Top 100 recognized
artists of Russia according to InArt.
In 2017, 2018 included in the Russian
investment art rating 49ART,
representing outstanding contemporary
artists under the age of 50 years.
2012 - Finalist of Kandinsky Prize,
2014,2017 - nominee
2016 - Curator’s Choice at the Boston
Museum of Fine Arts annual summer
auction 2016, Boston, MA, USA
2015 - Winner of Sergey Kurekhin Prize
in the nomination “For the Best Work of
Visual Art”.

The works of Maria Safronova are in the
collections of the Moscow Museum of
Modern Art (Moscow, Russia), the Erarta
Museum and Gallery of contemporary art
(St. Petersburg, Russia), the Sergey
Kuryokhin Modern Art Center (St.
Petersburg, Russia), The Museum of
Chinese Women and Children (Beijing,
China), as well as in a variety of private
collections in Russia and abroad.
