„Swing de Provence“, 2007, signed and dated PRACHENSKY 07, signed and dated on the overlap Markus Prachensky 2007, titled on the stretcher „SWING DE PROVENCE - 2007“, acrylic on canvas, 160 x 210 cm, on stretcher
Provenance:
Galerie Ulysses, Vienna (label on the reverse)
Private Collection, Vienna

Exhibited:
Klosterneuburg, Essl Museum, Prachensky. Frühe und späte Werke, 12 October 2007 – 10 February 2008

The fullest possible personal involvement in the making of a work of art remains an indispensable element of creation. The distinction between technical invention and artistic creation should be of equal concern to artists, art dealers and collectors. What is called for is neither the anonymity of the artist nor the collectivisation of the idea, neither intellectual calculation nor para-technical invention, nor an antiseptic print, but true painting, embracing all the heights and depths of life and spirituality. In a word, let us return to painting.
Excerpt from:
Sophie Cieslar, “Rot ist die Farbe meines Lebens“, in Wilhelm Nicolaus Prachensky, Markus, exhibition catalogue, Galerie bei der Albertina Zetter, Vienna, 2016, page 53
