Discovered in Morocco in 2013, only 149.39 grams of NWA 8159 were found; therefore, even very small samples are significant and valuable. The present specimen weighs only 0.64 grams, yet it is highly aesthetic, exhibiting a reddish-orange core consistent with its origin, the red planet. Believed to be at least 2.3 billion years old, NWA 8159 is unlike all other Martian varieties; it is composed of olivine-bearing augite-rich basalt.
