Martin Bigum (b. Copenhagen 1966)

“Enhver sin stilhed”. Signed Martin Bigum 2019, 2/40. Lithograph. Sheet size 74×54 cm.

The Danish artist Martin Bigum (b. 1966) lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. Bigum went to The School of Decorative Art (Danmarks Designskole) where he learned a lot about graphic awareness and acquired drawing skills which he continuously uses in his artistic practice today. He is primarily a painter but has since the 1990’s experimented with graphics, drawings, photography, installations, video art, music, and poetry. Bigum’s works are often full of references, and he uses art history as an elusive image bank, ranging from medieval doomsday scenarios to popular comic cartoons. In addition, you may find a relationship with J. F. Willumsen’s late paintings, the futurists’ fascination of movement and the fragmented image build-up of cubism. Represented at Rammefabrikken.

Condition: Examined in frame. Original condition.

The work is part of a charity auction to benefit “Børns Vilkår” (Children's Rights Denmark). The auction is initiated and curated by “Curated by Jens-Peter Brask”. The artists have generously donated their works. Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers do not charge fees or commission so the total proceeds will go undiminished to Børns Vilkår's important work.
