Very colorful work by the Hague painter Martin van Waning. He was a student of Willem de Zwart and Charles Dankmeijer before continuing his education as an autodidact. Working in Germany before World War I, he traveled with Prince Orloff in southern Europe and North Africa before returning to the Netherlands in 1917. After the war he worked in England for a while, then lived in the Veluwe and after 1934 on the island of Schiemonnikoog. Picture size without frame: 30 x 37 cm
