Masaki Yada, Japanese b.1979- FORBIDDEN FRUIT OP 3, 2007; acrylic oil on board, 50x40x2cm(Unframed) Provenance: Contemporary Art Society, London, where purchased in 2009 by the present owner. Note: Masaki Yada is a contemporary Japanese artist who works principally in the medium of painting. Yada’s approach is defined by the heavy element of surrealism which pervades many of his paintings, as is evident in the present piece, contrasting with the naturalism of his painterly technique. The ambiguity of the scenes depicted imbues his work with an enigmatic quality which immediately engages viewer’s attention, at once demanding and confounding any attempt to decipher the painting’s meaning. Yada has participated in a number of exhibitions internationally, including at the Courtauld Institute of Art, the Florence Biennale, and at Tokyo Contemporary Art Fair. His work is in the Danish Royal Collection, the Zabludowicz Art Trust, and the collection of the University of the Arts London.
