Masechet Zevachim. Venice, 1522. Bomberg Press. First Edition.

This Bomberg edition became the blueprint for all later Shas edition.

Talmud Bavli, Masechet Zevachim, with commentaries of Rashi, Tosafot and Piskei Tosafot.

Venice Shas: The complete Talmud was first printed in the famed Daniel Bomberg Press, in Venice, 1519-1522 This was a most beautiful edition, almost entirely without the negative affects of censorship. It included for the first time, most significant additions from manuscript form. 3 years later, Bomberg commenced printing a second edition which he concluded in 1539.

This Bomberg edition became the blueprint for all later Shas edition: The Venice Shas page layout is the Germa page setup as we know it today, as is the number of pages in each tractate. Gemara pagination references until today, are the same as was established by this Venice Shas edition.

2-120 leaves. The final leaf is missing, and there is no title page. 36.5 cm. Medium-poor condition. Tears. Worm holes. Without binding.
