Kpan Mask of the Goli - Baule - Ivory Coast The Goli is a diurnal show involving the whole village. It is a recent dance, borrowed by the Baule from their neighbours the Wan, in the early 1900s. The dance is very popular and not very difficult, it can be danced during entertainments. These masks appear by couple, masculine/feminine. In sequence, there are the Kple Kple, then the Goli Glen, then the Kpan Pre horn masks, and finally, the masks with braided hairstyles in the form of a crest, the Kpan. The dresses are almost identical for each pair, but the masculine mask is the first one to dance. The entry and the exit of the Kpan regarding the dance, is always done in a very theatrical way, at the end of a long day of dances and libations, when the crowd is immersed in the euphoria, almost at dusk.
