Exceptional ADOUMA mask The large size of this mask is related to the main chieftaincy where it comes from. And as often, the use of a mask can be multiple. According to our sources, this mask was danced on the occasion of the various annual harvest festivals, accompanied by offerings to the benefactor spirits, and with immersion of the mask in water, the principle of life and fertility. It also participated in the chief's funeral rites. A small amount of its white and red coloring was placed on its body as a farewell. The most valiant warriors of the village would carry it to the grave, supporting the head. Later, he danced, holding the black mask from below, symbolizing death.
