Polychrome Tetela masks of this kind are rare, this can be explained by the partial Arabisation of this population, causing the disappearance of their artistic production. More recent productions of these kind of pieces however take better account of the influence of their neighbours, the Songye. In fact, these pieces very likely come from their closest neighbour, their stylistic very clearly refers to that of the Kifwebe masks. They are associated to the BWADI society.
