Mask of rejoicing. This type of Baoule anthropomorphic mask represents an important individual from the village. The facial features are very fine, full of serenity with a soft, well-proportioned face.

This type of African Baoulé mask was used during festivals of entertainment and rejoicing when the harvests had been good. The hornbill on the crest is a symbol of fertility and fecundity.

The eyes are slightly perforated, the dancer could either be worn as a crest on his head, or be guided by another dancer using a stick.

This mask is representative of Baoule art, with a balance between shapes and volumes with finely sculpted details.
