A Bassa mask, Ivory Coast, of triangle hollowed form, with a pointed chin, a protruding, pierced mouth with full lips and pronounced philtrum, a large flattened nose with prominent nostrils, covered with ornamental scarification marks, an angular sloping forehead, semicircular outgoing ears with an embedded circle, farther scarification marks on the forehead, temples, cheeks, at the corners of the mouth and along the headdress, pierced through at the rim for attachment, capped by seven striated parted coiffure with round ornaments on top; brown to black surface, traces of age and ritual use, incl. stand.
