Anthropomorphic 'kam' mask of a 'Juju' dance society of the Kom people (or Bekom) . The mask depicts a high ranking female figure. They perform during funeral rituals and feasts in honour of the ancestors. The masks are worn on the head, the dancer sees through a net under the mask’s edge. This old, superb mask with a fine black patina is dynamically carved in a highly sculptural style, with enlarged facial features. A very beautiful example of a helmet mask in an excellent condition.
