Masonic Columns with Celestial Globes
This magnificent pair of Masonic Warden columns showcases exceptional craftsmanship, beautifully embodying the rich architectural symbolism of the fraternal order. Styled in the ornate Corinthian order with fluted shafts, the columns feature striking acanthus-leaf capitals topped with celestial and terrestrial globes—the former likely representing the night sky and stars, and the latter representing the Earth. Crafted with a brilliant gold-finished composition over wood or heavy plaster, these architectural pillars rest on substantial square plinths adorned with central floral medallions. Visually striking and highly symbolic, columns of this grand scale were historically used to flank the interior entrance or stations within a Masonic lodge room. Both pillars remain structurally sound, showing expected surface wear, minor scuffs, light finish loss, and dust appropriate for their age and use. The globes show light oxidation and age-related toning but remain intact. Overall, they present beautifully with a commanding presence. H 98.25", W 17.5", D 17.5". Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available Post-Auction.
