Anthropomorphic Mask Lega, Democratic Republic of Congo. Second half of the 20th century. Wood and kaolin. Height: 23 cm Sold with a stand. Sold with a stand. The traces of kaolin are visible in the dark ring of the eyes in coffee beans. It is in an oval shape, highlighted by eyebrows and a nose suggesting a heart. The half-open mouth is placed at the bottom of the face, almost on the chin. It would dance on the occasion of the initiatory rite of the Bwami. Wonderful patina of wear.
