Massive Antique 19thC Painted Iron and Glass Coffee Table w/Heraldic Shield Rope Design

Ca. mid to late 19thC. Originally from a Scandinavian shipyard, the striking rope and shield portion was featured within a heavy side entrance gate. This decorative cold painted element was framed (and welded) to strong cast iron legs, now topped with a thick piece of glass. This 20" tall table is massive, and quite heavy, The iron shows traces of original polychrome details throughout, on both the rope and the shield. An impressive table, perfect for the Old Dominion Boat Club in Old Town, Alexandria Virginia.
