Title: Massive Vintage Smoky Topaz & Ruby Glass Cabochon 32” Necklace, 5” Drop, Possibly Haskell Prototype
Additional Information: This vintage designer necklace is nothing short of magnificent with swagged chains, a five inch center drop, eight smoky topaz colored glass cabochons and ten ruby glass cabochons in different shapes and sizes. It is 32” long and could actually be used as a belt for a 30” or less waistline. The fittings used for the drop and the leaves encircling the six other stations look like Haskell fittings. The necklace is definitely a statement piece that has a simple hook closure. The things that are peculiar and point to a prototype are the fittings for the smoky topaz glass cabochons on the stations. All but two of them at the neckline are glued in stones with scalloped banding, and two up by the back of the neckline are prong set, yet everything looks to be original. Also, the back of one of the stations at the back of the neckline by loop for the hook closure has what looks like a filed down cartouche that was then gold plated. The five inch elaborate drop on the necklace has one chain that is missing a few links, but it is not noticeable, and the drop is 2 ½” wide with three different sizes and shapes of ruby glass cabochons with the large center drop encircled with seed pearls, often also used in Haskell vintage jewelry, and two smoky topaz glass cabochons. The theme of the larger ruby glass cabochon and two smoky topaz glass cabochons are repeated in each of the six other stations linked with five gold tone chains in between each. An interesting and grand statement piece, this necklace can definitely MAKE an outfit and is so impressive.No Reserve
