This painting depicts Saint Ursula and her retinue, who travelled from England to Rome, being greeted by Pope Cyriacus. The work has been brought into connection with an altarpiece depicting the Holy Kinship that was formerly in private ownership in Chiemgau and which is mentioned by Alfred Stange (cf. Alfred Stange, Die Malerei der Donauschule, Munich 1971, ill. 217).
