The saint of the order, identified by his wounds, is depicted in a sleeping posture. According to legend, he had a vision in which an angel appeared to him with a violin. This depiction of legends can be found in many painters, especially from the 17th century. A famous painting by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino, from around 1623, in which the painter shows the saint in ecstasy at this moment.
