Matched Pair of 19th C. Persian / Mughal Brass Stirrups

[ translate ]

Central Asia, Iran to Northern India, Mughal or Indo-Persian, ca. 19th century CE. This is a fine matched pair of antique brass riding stirrups with ornamental rings and 2 bells under the foot treads. Both are a hemispherical shape with an arched shank that is decorated by a central raised ridge, beading along the edges, and the top center contains a rectangle loop for the saddle straps. The foot tread plate is flat with loops welded underneath, which all perhaps contained additional bells at one time. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 6" L x 1" W x 4.75" H (15.2 cm x 2.5 cm x 12.1 cm)

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent increases of shipments being seized by Australian & German customs (even for items with pre-UNESCO provenance), we will no longer ship most antiquities and ancient Chinese art to Australia & Germany. For categories of items that are acceptable to ship to Australia or Germany, please contact us directly or work with your local customs brokerage firm.

Display stands not described as included/custom in the item description are for photography purposes only and will not be included with the item upon shipping.

#138889
