Oil measures 65x49 cm. Frameless. Mateo Balasch Mateu (1872-1936) Catalan painter who stood out as a portraitist and landscaper of country scenes. He trained at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts. He furthered his studies in Paris and Rome thanks to a scholarship, he also traveled to different cities in Italy and Switzerland and painted their landscapes and views. In his last years he dedicated himself to painting towns in Catalonia and interiors of churches. Many of the chapels he painted were destroyed during the Civil War, giving his paintings some historical value.
