Edizione originale alquanto rara di quest'opera importante, scritta da Lagrange in una nuova fase di ripresa degli studi matematici una volta chiusasi la parentesi del Terrore, e attivata la creazione della École Normale e dell'École Polytechnique, ove Lagrange fu chiamato a insegnare. In quest'opera, ed in quella sulle funzioni analitiche, Lagrange riprese le indagini avviate ancora in età giovanile con il suo scritto sulla "metafisica del calcolo integrale".

Rare first edition of this important work, written by Lagrange in a new phase of recovery of mathematical studies once the parenthesis of Terror was closed, and activated the creation of the École Normale and the École Polytechnique, where Lagrange was called to teach. In this work, and in that on analytical functions, Lagrange resumed the investigations started again at an early age with his writing on the "metaphysics of integral calculus".
