Maurice Delavier was a well-known artist in France. He owned a flower shop and an art studio at 19 Quai Saint Michel in Paris. During World War II, he drew many pencil sketches of the harsh life in prison camps, while imprisoned in Stalag 6-A in Germany.
After the war, these sketches were published in a limited edition book (Stalag 6-A, Paris, Floury, 1946) .
Maurice was married to Alice Anastasia "Tasy" Schmidt, a Russian immigrant.
