Max Hermann Fritz was initially a pupil of Lorenz Hutschenreuther in Lichte Thuringia. In 1898 he moved to Dresden, where he continued his self-taught training. His work focuses on small-format sculpture. He made numerous animal figures and putti. In the field of porcelain, he created designs for the Royal Meissen Porcelain Factory (Hutschenreuther) in Fraureuth and for the Rosenthal Porcelain Factory. Many of his works are exhibited in museums in Dresden and elsewhere in Saxony, including four shell limestone cherubs in the rose garden on the banks of the Elbe in Neustadt.
