Max le Verrier Lion marchant
Max le Verrier
1891 - 1973
Lion marchant
Designed in 1933
Patinated metal and marble base
Signed M Le Verrier on the base
30 x 58 x 14 cm ; 11 ¾ x 22 ⅞ x 5 ½ in.
Condition Report:
Good overall condition.
The patinated bronze surface presents with scattered minor surface irregularities, which are inherent to the making, as well as areas of wear, mostly on the back, the tail and the muzzle, consistent with the aging process of the material.
The surface also presents with some light scattered scratches, light abrasions and small dents, mainly located on the muzzle, none of which is visually distracting. We observe two more important abrasions along with small losses in the recessed area of the mane and on the left thigh.
The terrace needs to be refixed from the sculpture and presents with traces of discoloration and light scattered scuffs, as well as some abrasions and some chips along the edges.
