First two works exceptionally scarce, only one institutional copy located for first work and not in the Wellcome Collection of the works of James McGrigor, the second work only one copy in the Wellcome Library.

Sir James McGrigor (1771-1851) was appointed Surgeon-General to the Duke of Wellington's army during the Peninsular War.and was in large part responsible for establishing the Royal Army Medical Corps. He improved standards of hygiene for the wounded in field hospitals, introducing the stethoscope in 1821 and served as Director-General of the Army Medical Service from 1815-51, enacting many reforms.
