Medal Group of Sir John Lucian Blake RNAS. Sir John Lucian Blake served during the Great War with the Royal Naval Air Service and was Knighted in 1951 for his services with the Patents Office. Comprising: Knight Bachelors Badge 2nd Type (Silver gilt London 1951) contained in original Royal Mint Case, British War Medal and Victory Medal F.13174 J.L. BLAKE A.M.1 RNAS (original ribbons and box of issue), Elizabeth II Coronation Medal (Box of Issue). Medals loose. The group is accompanied by a small selection of items including photographic portrait Circa 1951, Ephemera including 1954 menus for two dinners with the Pakistan Cricket Team, Silver presentation penknife, this engraved and signed by the Master Cutler 1950-51, etc. Sir John Lucian Blake was born in Watford 1898 and volunteered for service with the RNAS in April 1916, his medal pair entitlement is confirmed. During his service he was granted an Honorary degree as a Bachelor of Science. He appears to have remained with the RNAS / RN after the formation of the RAF. Surviving the war he entered the civil service and in 1939 is noted as Senior Examiner Patent Board of Trade, Sea Department. In 1949 he was Comptroller General Patents, Designs and Trademarks. For his services spanning 30 years he was knighted in the New Years Honours List 1952. He died suddenly two years later in May 1954 whilst visiting Paris.
