Three: Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant R. W. H. Ireland, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, who was reported missing during the retreat to Dunkirk, but subsequently rejoined1939-45 Star; War Medal 1939-45, in named card box of issued addressed to ‘Mr. R. Ireland, 19 Hillsborough Road, Cowley, Oxford’; Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue, Regular Army (5377271 W.O. Cl. II. R. W. H. Ireland. Oxf. & Bucks. L.I.) number partially officially corrected; together with 12 Regimental and Army athletic and shooting prize medals, three of which are fully hallmarked sterling silver, two of which are named to him and 8 being regimental prize medals of the 43rd Light Infantry, generally very fine and better (15) £100-£140---Ronald William Hector Ireland was born in Lewisham, London, in 1904 and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He served with the 2nd Battalion in India and Burma, and subsequently with the 1st Battalion as Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant with the British Expeditionary Force. He was reported missing in action in the retreat to Dunkirk on 27 May 1940, but subsequently rejoined his unit.
