Early 13th century AD. A vellum leaf from a single-volume Bible; each side with two columns of 44-45 lines in black ink in a small blackletter bookhand (minimum height about 1.5mm), written space 148 x 98mm; blue versals with red detailing; text arranged according to the chapter divisions attributed to Stephen Langton, Archbishop of Canterbury (1207-28"). 1.49 grams, 19.5cm (7 3/4"). From the property of a London gentleman; formerly in a UK collection, acquired in the 1990s.
