A bronze discoid seal matrix with loop to the reverse, intaglio lion passant motif and legend to the border ' +S’ IOhA: PELET', i.e. the seal of John the Furrier [Fr. pelletier], the derived modern English surname is Pelter; accompanied by a museum-quality impression. 14.4 grams, 30mm (1 1/4"). Property of a Mayfair lady; formerly in an important London collection formed since 1965.
