[Medieval manuscript] - Bifolium met grote miniatuur - 1400

Beautiful and extremely rare medieval double-page manuscript (bifolium) with text in red and black. On the right an exceptionally beautifully executed large miniature in gold, blue and red. Depiction of a standing full-length Christ in the center of the capital letter D. Christ holds a book (the Bible?) in his left hand and his right hand is raised in blessing. Completely golden background with a very beautifully executed pattern in gold. Above and left floral decoration, typical of the 14th/15th century. A beam with decoration in red, blue and gold goes down from the letter. Various other floral decorations at the bottom.

Very beautifully executed by a very skilled master. Extremely rare.

Good condition. The parchment is somewhat dirty and somewhat bumpy. Some holes on the center fold where the page was originally bound. The whole is professionally framed in a wooden frame, with glass on the front and back, making both sides of the bifolium visible. Frame dimensions: 51. 5 x 66. 5 cm. Not rated outside list.
