Unusually high quality late Meiji - early Taisho (1910s) Japanese cloisonne match box holder with ogival reserve depicting a butterfly in flight by a branch with leaves and beautiful flowers. Background and the back are decorated with flowers among scrolling vines with leaves. Excellent detailed work, gilding to the metal sides (some wear) and wires, cloisonne itself is in excellent condition. Length 2 3/8 inches.
