Marvelous compote service for 6 persons “ Red Rose” pattern, hand painted porcelain, with lovely large Rose flower and buds, scattered on a white porcelain, gold trimmed. The service include 6 bowls, versatile pieces, suitable for serving salats, consommé, stew, fruits or deserts with syrups. Plates, 6 pieces, also versatile pieces, in size suitable for appetizer, canapés, desert or support plates for bowls. Floral painting on porcelain has a long tradition at the Meissen manufactory that has grown continually throughout the ages and continues on to this day. Based on the still life paintings of the Old Masters, roses began to appear as a motif in porcelain painting in 1740. Initially in bouquet form, the rose became popular as a single motif in the following Marcolini period. The graceful “MEISSEN Rose” was developed from these paintings in the Biedermeier period. All pieces are marked with blue “crossed swords” Meissen trademark stamp with two lines and numbered, all in excellent condition, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures, as they are part of description. 1935 - 1970 Dimensions: 6 x Bowl: Diameter: 14,5 cm, Height: 3,8 cm 6 x Plates: Diameter: 16,3 cm, Height: 2,5 cm It will be very carefully and safely packed !
